The bonus plan that can backfire

There is a bonus strategy that’s fast to implement, can drive quick results, and can backfire if done wrong.

It’s called a spiff.

A spiff is a short-term bonus tied to selling a specific product or service.

For example, we sell standard alignments for $129.

The 3-year alignment package is $199.

If we want to push the 3-year package, we’ll offer our salespeople $10 for every 3-year sold in addition to the normal commissions.
